Because red is such a strong color, red is usually used as an accent. Red draws people together and stimulates conversation so it is a good color for a living room or a dining room. Red is a color often-used in restaurants. Since red is such an intense color and can make some feel irritable, it is generally not used as the main color of a room – or at least in rooms where people spend long periods of time. When adding a red table lamp to a space, it may be desirable to incorporate other red color elements or accessories to establish overall balance to the room. But, then again, red could be used once as a single accent.
