Dealing With Email for Children

Author: osquare | Filed under: Computers, Family, Internet, Kids and Teens

When you finally decide to set up an email account for your child, be sure and monitor all the sites that send your child an email. It’s also a good idea to visit the site and review their policies. It’s probably best to allow only sites that will promise not to sell or trade anything with your child. Also, be sure that they will not share your child’s email address with any third party. If not, then chances are your child will start to receive lots of spam emails that are just basically trying to sell them something.

You might want to consider using the free email service that is provide by Google called gmail. They seem to have good filters that will help to block out most of the spam emails. especially if they are not listed on your child’s contact list. You can also teach your child how to go into their spam box and delete the emails that are spam and keep the ones that are not spam. It’s probably a good idea to check your spam box every so often because there are some emails that accidentally get put in the spam box.
